ABOUT HOPE SOLUTIONS

Hope Solutions are one of the UK’s leading sustainability consultants working with start-ups, SMEs and partnering with iconic global brands. They are at the forefront of bringing environmental change, working with UK based festivals including Glastonbury, Boardmasters and Nass. Their latest work with Coldplay has enabled them to host one of the first carbon neutral tours around the world.

Founder of Hope Solutions, Luke Howell contacted me in early 2020 to develop a new logo and brand identity. They wanted brand confidence when pitching to larger clients so needed a strong identity to match their forward thinking expert consultancy.

THE PROCESS

We agreed that the brand needed to have a human and personal aspect. Research on competitors within this industry came across as very corporate and often lacked a personal connection, sometimes feeling unapproachable towards potential clients. It was important to convey Luke's relaxed but highly knowledgeable personality through this new branding.

Hope Solutions required a clean, concise and modern logo which would work across various media as a standalone logo and stand out over impactful and environmental based imagery.

After narrowing down a typeface, Bebas Neue was chosen in a variation of two weights for the main logo. A softer hand drawn brush stroke font 'Hackney' was used within the brandmarks and throughout guidelines to give personality alongside an urban and forward thinking feel.

We decided on a bold colour palette of black, white and magenta, using the magenta as an accent shade to pull out elements within the website and across print such as reports. Clear and direct messaging with punchy captions would feature throughout marketing materials to highlight key issues and give a confident tone of voice.

Imagery was curated to include a mix of black, white and colour photography. Themes around nature, natural based textures, rubbish and waste would be used to highlight the current problem. While images of environmentally friendly energy sources would give the feeling of confidence and hope that positive changes can be made to protect the planet.

Since the logo and identity were developed, I have worked with Luke and his team to design staff uniform, street style graphics / illustrations, custom icon sets, infographics and print including reports and pitch deck templates. I have also covered event photography showcasing their waste reduction schemes in action and pop up recycling centres based onsite at UK festivals.
