ABOUT NIKKITA PALMER DESIGNS

Nikkita Palmer Designs is a creative studio based in the Northamptonshire. Established in 2017 by award winning designers and authors, Nikkita Palmer & Billy Barker, they supply and style a range of events and festivals with reclaimed furniture and decor. They offer a range of sustainable props and furniture sourced and salvaged from vintage and hand crafted from recycled materials, creating memorable guest experiences while reducing the impact on the planet.

THE PROCESS

I'd previously bought reclaimed furniture from Nikkita so when she approached me to rebrand their business I was excited to work with them to create a fresh new identity to take their business forward.

Nikitta’s key objective for the rebrand was to establish themselves as larger names in the events industry and increase pricing for their styling packages. Words that stood out during our brand discovery session were 'rustic, sustainable, makers and industry experts’.

Nikkita and Billy are some of the most creative and passionate people I've met so it was super important to capture this quirkiness and love of work within the new branding.

Initial ideas in the moodboard explored the use of wood and rustic style logos that could be branded into wooden furniture.

We settled with a badge style design so I worked with organic shapes and took inspiration from slices of tree trunks and tree rings which formed the shape for outline of the main badge logo. We worked key words into the badge and created several alternative options for different logo lockups and applications. As an addition a textured ink effect was applied to a set of the logos to give a hand crafted feel.

The colour palette needed to work with a wide range of props but also stand its ground on it's own. I worked with a deep, rich aubergine shade teamed with an old vintage gold shade taken from many of antique vases and candlestick props. Pastels were then chosen consisting of a mushroom taupe and pale tint of the gold tom complete the palette.

As part of the identity I was asked to create 3 illustrated icons which could be used as standalone images and as digital buttons and Instagram highlights. I hand illustrated a stack of vintage suitcases, an armchair and hammer. These were drawn up as filled images and also outline illustrations.

Seeing the brand come to life and grow with the new identity has been a highlight of 2022.
